Listen, Learn, and Love - 3 Keys to Harmony
Novel on Harmony-Building
This historical novel is the story of two Irish families, the O'Grady and the Gwynn families, who emigrate from Ireland to America in the early 1900s. They do not know each other in Ireland, but after they settle in Salt Lake City, they meet there. All of the members of both families are born and reared in the Irish Catholic faith. One family, Widow Evgren O'Grady and her twin 16 year old daughters, Regina and Riona, convert to Mormonism before they leave Ireland. In due time, Regina O'Grady falls in love with Roderick Gwynn. Because Regina is Mormon and Roderick is Catholic, relationship dilemmas sprout throughout both families. Notice we did not say that Regina and Roderick have problems, but rather the families have problems with their union. Political issues also arise between the two families since one set supports Irish nationalism through non-militant measures, and the other group believes in militant means to obtain independence. One family is quite wealthy, the other is eeking by each month. There are many side-bars in the story including scenes involving adoption and paleontology digs! Much clarity is injected into the minds of members of both families by virtue of the actions of one 13 year old boy.
